“In The Red Room” was the loudest album I ever made. It was just me solo, highly amplified in a local bar. Now I’ve finished the quietest album I ever made. Recorded alone in my room at the Holiday Music Motel, it's as stripped down as it can possibly be, played and sung mostly live, with a few added harmonies. Plus a moment of hidden harmonica...

LOL (Light O’Love) is 36 minutes of playful melancholy for those of us who are beginning to accept mortality as real, if not inevitable. My best songs come from sadness or frustration, and i tend to embellish. Stained glass windows and funhouse mirrors become means of escape (or ways to navigate the inescapable). Here, the moon (🌕 and 🌙) is both oracle and scapegoat, more a mascot than a deity (kind of like Jesus to the MAGA cult).

Ten of these songs, i wrote myself, and three are co-writes. "Waves On The Blue" was written with my friend and brother Eric McFadden, "Madam Black" with my clever charismatic nephew Connor MacDonald, and "A Tug On The Line" (the oldest song on the album) was written in 1994 (30 years ago!) in Brazil with the mighty, mystical Marina Lima.

The cover image, adapted from the 1902 film "Le Voyage Dans La Lune / A Trip To The Moon" may change phases in subsequent versions of this album.

After its broadcast debut on SteelBridgeRadio.com (coinciding with a listening party in The Tambourine Lounge - date TBA), the public release of this album will in 3 phases: First, for a limited time, it will be exlusively available on this website. For the second phase, after the production of a limited run of CDs (and possibly cassettes) it will become available through Bandcamp. Then possibly at some point in 2025, it will be released to the streaming platforms.

This album was mastered by Nathan James at Vault Mastering Studio, Phoenix, Arizona.

If you'd like to support this project, at this point there are three ways. You can buy a download for the price you choose (i can't set it to less than a dollar) or, if you don't want to download, you can use the donation button to make a contribution. The third way is to listen here for free and share with your friends by sending or posting a link. Thanks for listening! Thanks for sharing! ♥️
